Red Flanked Lorikeet - Charmosyna Placentis - Least Concern

The red-flanked lorikeet (Charmosyna placentis) is a species of parrot in the family Psittaculidae. It is found in Mollucas, New Guinea and the Bismarck Archipelago. Its natural habitats are subtropical or tropical moist lowland forests and subtropical or tropical mangrove forests. Only the adult males have the red plumage on the head and sides.
Subspecies

There are five subspecies:

Charmosyna placentis intensior - Gebe Island
Charmosyna placentis ornata - North-western New Guinea, west Papuan Islands
Charmosyna placentis pallidior - Woodlark Island, Bismarck Archipelago, Bougainville Island, western Solomon Islands
Charmosyna placentis placentis - South Maluku, Aru Islands, southern New Guinea
Charmosyna placentis subplacens - Eastern New Guinea
